For as long as she can remember, Ann’s life has revolved around art. Early on, her third-grade teacher recognized her talent and selected her to attend the Toledo Museum of Art’s studio classes every Saturday. Instantly, she was hooked! Along with her classes at the museum, Ann jumped into private classes with local artists two afternoons a week. Throughout her childhood in Toledo, Ann spent every day, either drawing, painting or even just doodling.
Ann graduated from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN, with degrees in Marketing and Art History, but her first love was always the studio classes. Her sophomore year was spent in Rome, where she pursued painting and the study of the great Italian masters. After graduation, Ann began an apprenticeship with renowned artist, Daniel E. Greene, NA. Mr. Greene was a teacher at the Arts Students League and the National Academy of Design in New York City. She exchanged painting instruction from him for office duties in his studio in North Salem, NY. Ann spent 5 years under his tutelage. She also studied with artist Burt Silverman at the Arts Students League of New York.
On Ann’s return home, she married her husband Chuck and has three talented children, Charles, Louie and Elizabeth. She opened her own studio in Sylvania, OH, where she paints portraits and teaches art classes. Some of her commissioned portraits hang in, Ohio State University’s College of Law and College of Optometry, Shriners Children’s Hospital and St. Francis de Sales High School, Toledo, OH. Children’s portraiture continues to be one of her favorite subject matters.
“I think I gravitate towards the subject of children because, although I work as an artist, being a mom has been the most rewarding career in my life. I love watching children’s expressions and seeing the joy on their faces when they discover new things”
Ann works in both oil paint and pastel. She is a member of the Pastel Society of America and the Portrait Society of America. She has exhibited her work at the Butler Institute of American Art, the Pastel Society of America, Allied Artists of America, American Artists Professional League, Knickerbocker Artists Association, Hudson Valley Art Association, Midwest Pastel Society, Kansas Pastel Society, Crosby Festival of the Arts and the Toledo Museum of Art.
Ann has won numerous awards. Most recently, the Pat and Bob Suggs Award for Still Life, Floral or Landscape at the 50th Annual Exhibition: Enduing Brilliance, Pastel Society of America held at the National Artists Club in New York City.
Recently, Ann has brought a love for art, that began at the Toledo Museum, full circle. She now works at the museum as a docent giving tours to both adults and children.

“In the galleries and studios of the Toledo Museum of Art is where I found my joy, serenity and peace. It was like magic. I spent time with the works of many great masters, in the hope that some of their genius might rub off. I continue to love those spaces today!”
